Surviving the Washington DC beltway

For any of you who came from the Washington D.C. beltway area......you deserve to be crazy!!  This is our second day of travel and we made it all the way to Lancaster PA.  It was going to be a long 500 mile day on its own and then we experienced the horrific Washington DC beltway area.  What should have been about a 45 minute driving time turned into more than 2 1/2 hours at about 25 miles per hour. Now remember, it is Saturday afternoon that we are talking about here.  How slow would it have been if it was a work day? We are here to inform you that we have experienced a different kind of Washington gridlock (ha).   Would someone please ask Paul Burnett why he couldn't instruct the people in this area that when the road way meets the bridge, it should be semi-level.  Not one connection was remotely smooth.  It was like a wild west stage coach ride.   Van and I have decided that between South Carolina and Washington DC alone, that there is fertile ground for employment in these areas just for road construction.
